Five trees and a Facebook post
How it started
Our family grew up harvesting chestnuts every fall for decades from the five chestnut trees in the backyard. After posting locally online, we started receiving heartwarming stories, memories and requests for more chestnuts. Many were reminders of home from all over the world - we wanted to bring back those traditions here.
What we're building
This Fall, we turned that response into a community supported harvest. Our Newtown batch stays small and hand gathered. Local partner farms in Connecticut let us share more chestnuts with more families, picked up fresh each week to match orders.
Why chestnuts
For so many people, chestnuts are a memory: roasted in winter, shared at holidays, gathered from a grandparent's tree. We want Connecticut to have its own chestnut season again. Share your chestnut memory.
